THIS IS A BRIEF HISTORY OF HOW YOUR LOCAL BEGAN.

  • In 1947 the Maryland State Federation of Telephone Workers was formed.
  • In 1950 chartered CWA - AFL-CIO - 3 Tier System -

    LOCAL 2100 SOUTHERN DISTRICT
    LOCAL 2101 DOWNTOWN DISTIRCT
    LOCAL 2102 NORTHERN DISTIRCT
    LOCAL 2103 CONSTRUCTION
    LOCAL 2104 BUILDINGS
    LOCAL 2120 COMMERCIAL AND ACCOUNTING

    The Locals were conformed to Company Districts and Departments.

  • In 1966 Local 2101, 2102, and 2120 merged and became Local 2101.
CWA LOCAL 2101 will be celebrating 41 years in 2007.  IT IS IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT LABOR AND THE LABOR MOVEMENT!

We have had many battles to gain the benefits everyone enjoys.  Most of the employees working for the Company today did not have to fight for THE BENEFITS YOU ARE ENJOYING TODAY!

WE ARE VERY PRIVILEGED TO LIVE IN AMERICA.  Unfortunately, our jobs are vanishing to the third world countries.  A lot of people don't realize all our jobs are going over seas.  If everyone would buy one thing MADE IN AMERICA once a week, we might turn this country around.  TRY TO LOOK FOR TAGS AS WE ARE SHOPPING THAT SAY MADE IN THE USA.  MAYBE IF A FEW OF US WOULD SET AN EXAMPLE, IT JUST MIGHT START TO CATCH ON.
